Visitors: Frequently Asked Questions
When is the weekly worship service held?
Our weekly worship service is held at 10am on Sunday mornings. Summer worship time is 9:30am the first Sunday of July through the first Sunday of September.
How do I contact the church?
Our phone number is: 609-896-1212. Our general email is office@pclawrenceville.org.
Where is the church located?
The address of the church is 2688 Main Street (Route 206), Lawrenceville NJ, 08648. It is next to The Lawrenceville School. Our white brick church is located one mile north of Interstate 95 (Exit 7) on Route 206. We are on the righthand side of the road coming north. Coming south from Princeton, the church is located on the left side of the road just past The Lawrenceville School Golf Course. The entrance to the church and parking lot is at Gordon Avenue, where there is a stoplight. Click here for directions from your home.
Where do I park?
There is a parking lot surrounding the church; the entrance leads to the back parking lot. If you find no spaces available there (it usually fills up prior to worship), many folks park along route 206 near the church and in parking lots accessed from Gordon Avenue (at the light near the entrance to our parking lot). Here’s a map that shows parking areas.
Is the church handicap accessible?
Yes. You can enter the church via the Fellowship Center building; there is a ramp that bypasses the steps to the Meetinghouse.
I’m interested in membership; how do I join the church?
We hold Exploring Membership classes twice during the year, once during the fall and once in the spring. Childcare will be provided for these gatherings. At these gatherings we will learn about the church, discuss membership, get to know each other a little better, and address any questions you may have. If you are interested in attending Exploring Membership classes or have questions, please call Mary Alice Lyman, 896-1212 or
email Mary Alice at malyman@pclawrencville.org.
Are children welcome in worship?
Children are integral to our worship, and our life as a congregation! All Sunday School age children begin worship in the Meetinghouse, and then on most Sundays are dismissed to Sunday School after the Children's Message.
Is childcare available?
Our nursery, for infants to age 2, is staffed each Sunday by a permanent childcare provider, Cara Taylor, and a helper. Silent and wireless pagers are available for parents to carry. The nursery is located off of the Fellowship Center in room 103. Feel free to ask anyone for assistance in finding it. Cara is there by 9:30am (9:00am in summer) to allow time to get the children settled.
What opportunities are available for children on Sundays?
Age-appropriate and welcoming activities for children to learn about God are available as follows:
Preschool
Sunday School for preschoolers is available in our preschool rooms, which are located under the staff offices in the Chapel building. Feel free to ask anyone for assistance in finding it. The children enjoy music, Bible story time, playtime, arts and crafts, and a snack each week. They may be dropped off prior to worship as the teachers are ready to begin at 9:45am. For safety concerns, we ask that all preschool children be dropped off and signed in and out each week by an adult. If your child is attending for the first time or visiting for the day we ask that a parent register their child and inform the teachers of any allergies or special needs or concerns. This will help us to make sure each child has a nurturing, positive, and safe experience.
Kindergarten-Grade Four
Children in Kindergarten through grade four participate in a modified “Workshop Rotation Model” Christian Education Program. The children are separated into smaller groups by grade. The children begin and end each class with prayer. Each week the children learn from the denominational curriculum of the PC(USA), We Believe. After their weekly lesson the children have enrichment activities specific to the lesson and the rotation model classroom. The children rotate through the enrichment classes, which include art, drama and games, computer lab, and video.
Grades 5 & 6
The children in grades five and six are grouped together and begin to survey both the Old and New Testaments alternating yearly. They also participate in the enrichment activities of the modified rotation model. The survey courses help children explore the Bible on a higher level to prepare them for transition into the Confirmation classes.
Children and Mission
Preschool through 6th grade Sunday School children are also involved in many mission projects throughout the year.
For more information please contact Robyn Campbell, Director of Children's Ministries at rcampbell@pclawrenceville.org.
Youth
Youth join their parents in worship; there are several programs for youth, to explore the meaning of faith, and to join with a supportive community of youth. Our Junior High Fellowship group meets Wednesday evenings and our Senior High Fellowship group meets Sunday evenings. Youth Study Hour meets Sunday mornings at 9:15am in the Youth Room in addition to many more programs for study and mission. Please click here for more information.
