Children's Ministries
As a congregation, we pledge to nurture the Christian life and development of every child at their Baptism. The Sunday School Committee works to provide programs and projects that enable children to engage in healthy, positive, nurturing relationships while developing their faith. We offer a variety of experiences and opportunities for children and families, to grow and serve. For more information about any of our programs, please contact Robyn Campbell, Director of Children's Ministries rcampbell@pclawrenceville.org.

Sunday School
Our Sunday School is held from 10--11am September through June, providing Christian education for children age 3 through 6th grade. Our Summer Sunday School is held mid-June through the first Sunday in September.
Preschoolers may be dropped off before worship at 9:45am. Children K-6th Grade normally begin Sunday School after they are dismissed from worship following the Children’s Message. However, our schedule includes weeks when children attend the entire service with their parents, such as Communion Sundays, Children’s Sunday, Christmas and Easter.
Preschool/Toddler Program
Preschool/Toddler Sunday School is located under the staff offices in the Chapel building. Feel free to ask anyone for assistance in finding it. Click here for information regarding age requirements for the Preschool Room and the Toddler Room. The children enjoy music, Bible story time, playtime, arts and crafts, and a snack each week. The teachers are ready to begin the class at 9:45am. For safety concerns, we ask that all preschool children be dropped off and signed in and out each week by an adult. If your child is attending for the first time or visiting for the day we ask that a parent register their child and inform the teachers of any allergies or special needs or concerns. This will help us to make sure each child has a nurturing, positive, and safe experience. Click here for the Preschool Registration Form. Click here for a Toddler Registration Form.
Kindergarten through Grade Five
Children in Kindergarten through grade five participate in a modified “Workshop Rotation Model” Christian Education Program. The children are separated into smaller groups by grade. The children begin and end each class with prayer. Each week the children learn from the denominational curriculum of the PC(USA), We Believe. After their weekly lesson, the children have enrichment activities specific to the lesson and the rotation model classroom. The children rotate through the enrichment classes, which include art, drama and games, computer lab, and video. Click here for a Kindergarten-Grade 5 Registration Form.
Grades Five and Six
The children in grades five and six are grouped together and begin to survey both the Old and New Testaments, alternating yearly. They also participate in the enrichment activities of the modified rotation model. The survey courses help them to explore the Bible on a higher level to prepare them for their transition into the Confirmation classes.
Preschool through 6th Grade
Sunday School children are also involved in many mission projects throughout the year.
Summer Sunday School
Summer Sunday School will be held in 2008 from June 10 – August 31in the computer lab, room 105. All children in Kindergarten through grade 6 are encouraged to attend class, which will include a Bible story, art project, games, and computer lab lesson. Summer Sunday School class begin at 9:15am during July 6 though August 31.
Nursery Care During Worship
Our nursery, for infants to age 2, is staffed each Sunday by a permanent childcare provider, Cara Taylor, and a helper. Silent and wireless pagers are available for parents to carry with them to worship. The nursery is located off of the Fellowship Center in room 103. Feel free to ask anyone for assistance in finding it. Cara is in room 103 by 9:30am (8:30am in summer) to allow time to get the children settled before worship begins. Click here for a Nursery Information/Registration Form 2008-2009.
Child Care
Making sure everyone can participate is of great importance to us! Our dedicated childcare provider, Cara Taylor, is available to care for children (infants through grade 6) for Adult Education Forums and classes, and other meetings before and after worship.

Children’s Mission Projects
Mission is very important in our church. The children truly enjoy participating in monthly children’s mission projects. Each month we have a mission project which includes a “ hands on” mission activity related to the monthly project, so that children can gain a better understanding of each mission opportunity. The children collect backpacks and school supplies during the summer, then pack the bags for area foster children; they collect and purchase new books for First Books of Mercer County; they collect food for Crisis Ministries for families; they purchase and collect winter clothing for local children in need; they send cards to church members on holidays, and to residents of the local nursing home; raise money for Souper Bowl of Caring campaign; raise money to sponsor students in Haiti; and participate in the Shoes-That-Fit campaign supplying new shoes to local children.
Special Weekday Logos Program
A special midweek enrichment program is an innovative Christian “Kids Club” that meets on Wednesday from 5:00--7:30pm for twenty-four weeks, September through late March. There is a different theme each week and many activities, including dinner, which relate to the theme. The program invites children from preschool through grade six to participate in a variety of activities and experiences. Click here for a calender of Logos Themes for 2008-2009. The children participate each week in the following: Bible study, worship skills (choir), family time dinner hour, arts and crafts, and playtime. The children also participate in monthly mission projects including making lunches for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, sending cards to members of the military, singing at Lawrenceville Nursing Home. Our focus is on teaching children that each one is a child of God, and on building positive relationships between children and adults, as well as among the children. This program is open to all children in the community.
