On January 12, 2010, the day of the devastating Haitian earthquake, a group of 20 members and friends from the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville and Shiloh Baptist Church embarked on a medical mission trip to Haiti, landing hours before the earthquake, planning to follow the itinerary of the past six trips.  Their itinerary soon changed.  They were able to do a medical clinic for 300 in the mountain village of Thoman; the next day they ended up in the American Embassy where they held a medical clinic to those in need there.   Finally on Friday, January 15, they were airlifted to Puerto Rico. To learn more about the 2010 Mission trip, please click here and here.

The earthquake, which collapsed the Harmony Ministries' churches and schools in Port-au-Prince and Leogone, has changed the direction of our ministry in Haiti.  We are in the unique position, through our long time relationship with Pastor Luc, to help him and his people; we know him well and he knows and understands best what the most important needs are for the members of his congregation.  We trust him to spend our gifts wisely to help the people of Haiti.  Pastor Luc desires to rebuild the churches and schools.  During this time of devastation, he and his family will need extra support and the people of Harmony Ministries will need even more help with food and medicine.  We realize we cannot do all this alone.

To help our friends in Haiti, a partnership of churches and friends has been formed to focus on the temporary and long-term needs for Harmony Ministries.  Membership in the consortium, Harmony Partners for Haiti (HPH), currently consists of churches and organizations that have already supported Harmony Ministries in Haiti.  They are:

  • The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville (NJ)
  • Shiloh Baptist Church (Trenton, NJ)
  • Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (Oxford, MD)
  • I Care for Haiti (Arlington, VA)
  • St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (Centreville, MD)
  • Pinnacle Presbyterian Church (Scottsdale, AZ)
  • Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church (Raleigh, NC)
  • Maureen Reed Ministries, LLC (Princeton, NJ)
  • Kingdom Church (Ewing, NJ)

The purpose of the consortium of churches and organizations is to facilitate coordinated support among its members.  Central to the purpose is regular and consistent communication among its members.  The focus of support of the consortium for Harmony Ministries shall include:

  • The rebuilding and maintenance of Harmony Ministries’ facilities: churches, schools, and medical clinics;
  • Maintaining the programs and services of the churches, schools, and clinics; and
  • Helping with the personal needs of the founder and pastor of Harmony Ministries and his family.
